Our Mission as a Firearms Training Facility
At Shoken Shooting Academy, it is our mission to provide you with the best information and training that will assist you in the selection, handling, storing, cleaning, carrying and deploying of a firearm for the purposes of self-defense. (Some of these courses qualify as the prerequisite for obtaining your concealed carry permit in Virginia – please refer to course descriptions for more information.)
We offer both NRA and Non-NRA approved courses in order to cover a diverse amount of material and information for our students. All courses are taught by NRA Certified Instructors, authorized to teach firearms courses throughout the United States. Courses that are not NRA approved are clearly marked within each course outline.
During each course you’ll experience professional instruction supported by student handbooks, clearly written lessons, quality videos and PowerPoint presentations to bring you the best in firearms instruction.
Where Do I Start?
Your primary consideration for the purposes of our courses is whether you desire to enroll in a classroom or online course. Our classroom courses are taught at our headquarters just north of Richmond, Virginia and are available throughout the year, typically on weekends. Our online courses are available 24/7 and can be accessed through our secure student portal immediately upon enrollment.
Shoken Shooting Academy
Founder and Senior Instructor for the Shoken Shooting Academy, Mark Roscoe, is a life-long firearms enthusiast (since 1980), competing in pistol and shotgun competitions throughout Virginia, and has been involved in Personal and Corporate Security since 1999.
